
Ahmed Shah, reigned during first quarter of 15th century A.D., founded Ahmedabad. It is now turned into a Textile city on the banks of the river Sabarmati.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhitook all important decisions from 1917 till Civil Disobedience Movement (Dandi March) in 1930 at Sabarmati Ashram. Located in at serene and peaceful place, reminiscent of early 20th century village atmosphere amidst bustling city. It houses Gandhi Museum, was founded after Independence. Evening Prayer starts at 6.30 pm everyday, which was the part of Gandhi’s routine during his stay at Ashram.
Ahmedabad has got rich medieval history. The city is interspersed with numerous Indo-Sarasenic structures.
Teen Darwaja:Three arched entrances were built by Ahmed Shah. Ahmedabad is surrounded by many Darwajas like Delhi, Lal, Prem Darwaja etc, one among those is Teen Darwaja.
Sidi Saiyyed Mosque:Built by Sidi Saiyyed in the Last quarter of 16th century A.D. This mosque is famous for Lattice works.
Hathi Singh Jain Temple:15th Jain Tirtankara Dharmanatha is the presiding deity. Manastambha, which replicates Kirti Stambha at Chittor, present here.
Kankaria Lake:One place with many attractions such as Bal Vatika, Boating, Musical fountain, Dedki Garden, Zoo, Aquarium and an island called Nagina wadi.
Masjid-e-Nagira:also called Rani Sipri Masjid built by Rani Sipri during first quarter of 16th century A.D.
Adalaj Vav:It is a 30 m deep step well, construction was started by Veer singh and completed by Md. Begara.
Gandhinagar: Administrative capital of Gujarat. It houses Akshardham Temple and on the way to Gandhinagar there is an ISKCON Temple.
International Kite Festivalis a special attraction during Sankranti (Mid January) in Ahmedabad.
How to Reach Ahmedabad: It is well connected by Road, Rail and Air services from all important places in India.
