Amritsar, attributed to Amrit Sarovar, famous for Harmandir Sahib popularly known as Golden Temple around the world, is located in the state of Punjab. Foundation stone, of the Amritsar in 16th century, initiated new era in the history of Sikhism and growth of place as the most sacred, made the North Western part of India significant on the map of tourism.
Golden Temple:Construction was began by Guru Arjun Dev and temple has access from all directions. Akal Takhat which preserves the martial tenor of the faith. Beri Baba Buddha and Dukh Bhanjani Beri, other important sites present in the complex.
Jallianwalla Bagh:Memorial for freedom struggle martyrs built in the shape of an eternal Flame. This garden’s wall with bullet marks and the well in which hapless crowd jumped to escape from the gun firing are the remains of the supreme sacrifices of the woman and children for the cause of Freedom. It was on 13 april 1919, this ghastly incident took place.
Gobindgarh Fort: It was built by Bhangi Misl and later strengthened by Maharaja Ranjith Singh.
Rambagh Palace: This place houses Maharaja Ranjit Singh museum, which displays many things of the Maharaja.
Other important structures are Sarai Amanat Khan, Durgiana Temple, Goindwal sahib.
How to reach Amritsar: Amritsar is well connected by Air, Road and Rail from all over India. Rajasansi International airport will cater the needs of tourists and of course Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is few hours away from this place.
