Belur Halebeedu

Belur and Halebeedu are twin temple towns separated by the distance of 16 km. These tour places are located in the state of Karnataka, famous for Hoysala style of temple architecture along with Jain basadis.

Belur:Belur halebeedu chennakesava temple Early capital of Hoysala kingdom. Chennakesava temple courtyard is remarkable with excellent architecture.

Halebeedu:Belur halebeedu kedareswara varaha It was a capital of Hoysala kingdom after Belur. Dwarasamudra was the original name of Halebeedu. Hoysaleshwara Temple and Kedareswara Temple with lively architectural depictions apart from archeological museum here.

Shravanabelagola:Belur halebeedu shravanabelagola The gigantic monolithic statue (Carved out of a single block of granite) of Lord Gomateshwara was built in 980 A.D. Mahamastakabhisheka festival which held once in 12 years is the notable feature. 17 m tall Gomateshwara statue is visible up to 30 km.

How to reach Belur and Halebeedu: Nearest Railway station is Hassan which is located 38 km from Belur and 30 km from Halebeedu. Nearest Airport are Bangalore (220 km) and Mangalore (154 km). Shravanabelagola is around 50 km from Hassan.
