Fatehpur sikri Buland_Darwaza

Fatehpur Sikri, was built by Emperor Akbar (1556-1605 A.D), is located at about 40 km away from Agra in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a World Heritage Site and famous for its grand structures. It is the Mirror of the Mughal Architecture. It is a complex of monuments, in a uniform architectural style.

Buland Darwaza: Highest gateway in the world. 40 m high gateway (Darwaza) built by Akbar to mark his Gujarat conquest in the year 1572 A.D. Fatehpur Sikri is also called City of Victory.

Tomb of Salim Chisti:fatehpur sikri tomb of salim chisti Famous Sufi Saint of 16th century A.D. Akbar blessed with 3 sons and named his elder son, Salim(Emperor Jahangir). Latticed mausoleum with a fine white marble stone is a breath taking monument. Constructed during Jehangir (1605-1627 A.D) reign.

Agra Gate: City was surrounded by wall and pierced by Seven Gates and one among those is Gate of Agra. It is a well preserved structure.

Other important Monuments are Birbal Palace, Ranch Mahal, Anup Talao Pavilion, Jodha Bai Palace.

How to Reach Fatehpur Sikri: The city is well connected to Agra, which is 40 km away. Nearest Air Port is at Agra. Rail and Road network from Agra is reasonably good though Fatehpur station is there. Tourist buses and Cars are available from Agra.
