Palakkad fort

Palakkad is home and Gate Way to the Silent Valley National Park, undisturbed tropical evergreen rainforest, one of the biodiversity hotspot in the world. The Western Ghats are continuous stretch from the Sahyadri hills to the Cardamom Hills except at few places. Among those Palghat gap is famous for its large gap which is around 35 km acts as entry point to the Kerala from the north. Culture and Music Play an important role here.

Palakkad Fort: Situated in the heart of Palakkad Town is best preserved Palakkad fort, famous as Tipu’s Fort, which was built by Hyder Ali in 1766 A.D.

Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary: Sanctuary located 110 km from Palakkad, famous for its flora and fauna as well as Parambikulam Reservoir.

Nelliyampathy: Excellent Hill Station is located 75 km from Palakkad, famous for Kesavan Para, Seethargundu view points.

Jainamedu Jain Temple:  Historic images of Jain Thirthankaras and Yakshinis are famous in this Jain temple, situated on the bank of the river Kalpathy.

Silent Valley:Palakkad silent valley national park This National Park sprawls across about 90 sq km.

Malampuzha Gardens:Palakkad malampuzha garden These Gardens are endowed with the Reservoir,  fresh water Aquarium, Snake park, Ropeway and Toy train, overall it is a wonderful Picnic spot. The Western Ghats on its edge give us a pleasant view.

Other important places are MayiladumparaPalakkad mayiladumpara, Attappady etc.

How to Reach Palakkad: This place is well connected by Rail and Road network. Nearest Airport is Coimbatore.
