It is a small town in the anantapur dist of andhra pradesh.It served as a headquarters of Aravidu dynasty which was a part of vijayanagara rulers.

Place is famous for the Parsvanath Temple which was built during hoyasala era. During the reign of Qutb Shahis place witnessed construction activity, sheera mosque is one among them.
