As it was called Trivandrum for about 200 years, is the capital of Kerala. Thirvananthapuram located on the Sahyadri mountain range. City is famous for several important destinations in India.

Padmanabhaswamy temple:Sri-Padmanabhaswamy-Temple (1) Lord Padmanabhaswamy / Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity found in eternal sleep on Anantanag who is the king of the snakes. Goddess Lakshmi at His feet and the Goddess of Earth on His head here. Temple looks like a Pagoda with a large Gopuram, mark of Dravidian style of architecture , and endowed with wooden towers, Kalakshetra mandapam, monolithic pillars, Padmathirtam lake. Male should enter wearing Dhoti only.

King Martanda was dedicated his empire in the name of Lord Padmanabhaswamy in the early 18th century A.D.

Puttam malika palace:puttan malika palace This is famous for Keralite art, antique furniture, belgium chandeliers, ivory chairs, crystal throne, paintings, pillars made up of teak wood.

Art Gallery: Chitralayam is full of paintings from Tanjore, Tibet, China, Japan. Collection of works of Raja ravi vermaraviverma art are displayed here.

Kovalam beach:kovalm beach 16 km from the city. Beautiful and calm sea beach is famous for Ayurvedi massage and numerous Resortsuday-samudra-leisure-beach-hotel and definitely a place to spend with lot of satisfaction.

Napier museum:napier-museum-trivandrum Represents the Indo saracenic style and this museum housed collections range from Buddhist period to 18th century and temple car of 3 centuries old are important.

Other places of worth see are Zoo and Botanical garden, Natural history museum, Kariya palace (residence of maharaja) with permission.
